Vermont man cited with cruelty after shooting, dragging pig

A Windham County man faces multiple charges after police said he shot and wounded a pig, then dragged it behind his truck.
According to police investigation, Jeffrey Burke, 29, of Athens found one of his pigs in his neighbor's yard after the pig escaped from its pen. Police said Burke delivered a single gunshot to the pig's head and then tied the pig to his truck and drove back to his residence, dragging the wounded animal. Burke then slaughtered the pig at his residence.
Burke was cited on a cruelty to animal charge and driving with a suspended license.
